Students in Mrs. Ruth Mihalyi’s College in High School Statistics class competed in this year’s Big Data Jam through Pittsburgh DataWorks. The student analyzed data from Allegheny County and Pennsylvania dropout rates to see the impact of the introduction of Keystone Exams on the state’s dropout rate. The students found a sharp increase in 2011 after the introduction of the exams. The dropout rate leveled off after the state eased the requirement.
