Congratulations to Cornell High School junior Jada Jenkins on being selected to attend the NYU Film Summer program. Admittance into the NYU Film program is a very competitive process involving a number of references and multiple essays. Congratulations Jada!

Congratulations to Cornell High School social studies teacher, Mrs. Amy Palo for being selected to attend the digital George Washington Teacher Institute. The Great Experiment: George Washington and the Founding of the U.S. Government is a residential program, but due to COVID-19 precautions it will be conducted remotely. Mrs. Palo will learn from diverse primary sources, including artwork, place, and documents, that highlight the complexities of a man who embraced his responsibilities as a citizen, and whose contemporaries looked to for leadership.

Congratulations to Mrs. Rachel McVeagh, Ms. Sarah Sleasman, and Mrs. Miriam Klein for being awarded AIU3 OnRamp Grants. Mrs. McVeagh’s grant will provide teachers with prizes for completing digital choice boards. Ms. Sleasman’s grant will give access to Spanish language texts for students in her Spanish Classes. Mrs. Klein’s grant will be used to encourage students in grades 3 through 8 to “unplug” from computers and to read and explore hands-on activities. For more details, click on the link above.

Cornell has earned the College Board AP® Computer Science Female Diversity Award for achieving high female representation in AP Computer Science Principles.
